About Jennifer Hunter, the Professional

Over the past 15 years, I have worked professionally as a public relations writer, technical copy editor, high school English teacher, and photographer. All of these positions, though different, have helped me hone my communications skills and my capacity to build good professional relationships. My freelance work has given me the opportunity to work with established and start-up businesses and non-profit organizations, helping them to achieve their communications goals and articulate those in a clear, cohesive, and compelling way. In addition, I have published human interest feature articles in The Baton Rouge Advocate, The South Baton Rouge Journal, LSU Alumni Magazine, and Baltimore’s Music Monthly. I hold a bachelor’s degree in English from Louisiana State University and a master’s degree in Education from the University of Maryland.

About Jennifer Hunter, the Person

I’m married to a really fun and funny guy, and we have three children and no pets — but stay tuned, that’s coming, or else our children may join another family. I drive a minivan during the week (I know!) and, if I’m lucky, my bike on weekends. Yoga is my go-to for exercise, and cheese and cake are my favorite foods — and, well, cheesecake is even better. I have some super ambitious travel goals, all of which will be realized, even if I am climbing a mountain somewhere when I’m old and gray. I love being involved in my community. I am a past member of Junior Auxiliary of Houma and currently serve on the board of the Bayou Regional Arts Council as well as volunteer at my children’s school. I also participate in a local writers’ group called the Southern Writers Workshop, where I get to dabble in a little fiction writing, which is fun!
